School Of Mines Professor Named Fulbright Scholar

RAPID CITY, SD - A South Dakota School of Mines and Technology civil and environmental engineering professor has been named a Fulbright Scholar.

Scott Kenner will travel to Mongolia during the next academic year to teach and conduct an extended research project.

Kenner applied for the Mongolia program after traveling to the northern Asia country last summer. He met with faculty during the trip and visited several coal and copper mining operations.

The presidential-appointed J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board selects 800 U.S. faculty and professionals to travel abroad for research, lecturing or seminars.

Kenner proposes to teach a graduate level course at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology during the fall 2012 semester on watershed monitoring, assessment and modeling.
