President meets with athletes of London 2012 Olympic Games

President Ts.Elbegdorj paid visit to Sport Palace on Thursday to meet with athletes who have qualified London Olympic games.

Senior trainer of judo selected team O.Baljinnyam welcomed the President and stated 10 judo wrestlers have earned Olympic spots. Trainer in boxing D.Ganzorig said that four boxers will compete at Olympic Games and Mongolian team stands at the seventh of the world ranking.

The President also met with free style wrestling trainers and athletes. Trainer A.Tsedensodnom told that free style wrestling athletes have earned Olympic two spots and athletes will participate to competitions in China and Finland to earn more spots.

After introducing athletes training, Ts.Elbegdorj met with trainers and athletes at the meeting hall. Trainers stated that two archery athletes, two athletes of track and field athletics, two athletes of shooting and four athletes of Para Olympics have earned Olympic spots. Besides, two athletes of water sport will take part at the Olympic by invitation.

The President stated that there are 100 days to Olympic Games and Mongolian athletes competed at Beijing 2008 Olympic Games with big successes. Athletes should upgrade their ratings. Altogether 27 athletes have earned Olympic spots and our purpose is to earn 30 spots. Sport is a great thing to create fairness and friendship. The Government plans to see off our athletes at last week of June. I wish Olympic spots would be added at our next meeting, he said.

Ts.Elbegdorj added that he has rights to take two persons to Olympic Games and he decided to take Olympic champion E.Badar-Uugan, who could not fight at arena due to injury. The President hopes that E.Badar-Uugan would consult boxers as a trainer during Olympic Games.
