PRESIDENT GIVES INTERVIEW TO KYRGYZ MEDIA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj highlighted that his official visit to Kyrgyzstan "has been successful".

This was said by him in an interview that was broadcasted last Friday through TV channels and radio.

The President talked about the Mongolia-Kyrgyzstan traditional relations and history and culture of the countries. He underlined an importance of opening flights in route Istanbul-Bishkek-Ulaanbaatar and of developing the bilateral collaboration in the fields of agriculture, tourism, mining and education.

Mr. Elbegdorj stressed that Mongolia backs the new democracy in Kyrgyzstan and that is ready to share experiences with it. He also mentioned about importance of the justice and court reform and an opportunity for women to participate in the politics. Then he hoped that the Mongolia-Kyrgyzstan relations will widen.

The same day, the State Head Ts.Elbegdorj held a meeting with Kalmyk people who live in Kyrgyzstan.
The Kalmyks asked the President about present life of Mongolians, Lunar New Year, the national festival Naadam and other traditions. They said the Kalmyk moved to Kyrgyzstan from Xinjiang Uighur 340 years ago. 

As of today, some 12,000 Kalmyk are living in Kyrgyzstan engaged in farming.

After this, the President met with representatives of Kyrgyz NGOs.
