PREMIER MEETS STATE DEPARTMENT OF SPORTS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister and head of the National Committee of Olympic Preparation S.Batbold has obliged authorities of the State Department for Physical Culture and Sports (SDPCS) to intensify a preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games.


This obligation was given to the SDPCS head Ch.Naranbaatar at a regular meeting of the Executive Council of Mongolia's National Olympic Committee (MonNOC) on Thursday.

In 2011, the government has spent MNT 1.8 billion for salaries of athletes and expenses of training, tournaments, clothes and facilities. This year, a financing of MNT 4.1 billion has been allotted from the budget.

According to Ch.Naranbaatar, national selected teams grabbed 224 medals last year from international competitions, including World and Asian championships and Olympic qualification tournaments; a majority of the medals were gold and silver. For the time being, 12 athletes have been qualified to compete in the London Summer Olympics, nine have got rights to compete in the London Paralympics. The MonNOC aims to have at least 30 Olympic rights.

In addition, the Olympic athletes of Mongolia will be dressed in ceremonial uniforms which are will be designed by the "Shilmel Zagvar" company, the training suits will be imported from the ASICS of Japan, as the meeting decided.

It also discussed issues of increasing salariesy sports people of the national and youth selected teams and of rendering customs facility to training equipment imported through international assistance and programs.
The Premier supported the proposals and opinions sounded at the meeting.
