PARLIAMENTARY SPRING SESSION OPENS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Parliamentary spring session opened on Thursday at 11.20 am in the Government House.
This is the last session of the parliament in its authorized term for 2008-2012.

Present at the opening were the PM and his cabinet, heads of agencies, ambassadors of foreign countries to Mongolia. The state head was absent due to his official visit to Kyrgyzstan.

Addressing the gathered, the Parliament Speaker D.Demberel underlined that parliament needs now to work intensively.

"The State Great Khural has made many vital decisions to support the country's development and people's livelihood. The economic growth of Mongolia reached 17 per cent in 2011, and is expected to remain and even go up," he said.

Mr. Demberel emphasized that it is important to equally and efficiently distribute to people the revenues from mineral resources, and said salaries and pensions have bee increased in several phases.

He pointed out that a monthly MNT 21 thous. benefit from the Human Development Fund (HDF) contributed to livelihood of low and middle-income people.

The Speaker stressed that a lot of vital matters await their solution.
