MPP RELEASES STATEMENT ON ARREST OF N.ENKHBAYAR

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Board of the Mongolian People's Party (MPP) and the party's parliamentary faction released on Friday a joint statement in connection with the arrest of N.Enkhbayar.

"N.Enkhbayar was arrested on Friday morning, prior to it, the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) asked the Prosecutor Office to investigate him on criminal cases. The arrest was lawful in frames of the law on criminal procedure," says the statement.

Some political forces are commenting the event from own politicized positions and are distorting it with a personal role of the MPP, it went on. The ACA and the prosecutorial and court bodies performed the arrest independently from parliament, government and political party. “…But the law enforcement bodies should not breached other's rights and trespassed properties while running the action, so if there is any violation, a guilty person must be punished,” the faction stressed.

It has been underlined that any intervention to the legislative and court bodies with political purposes causes obstacles in solving problems and negatively affects the public mind. “We demand that the ACA and authorities of the prosecutorial and court bodies urgently give relevant reports to the public in respect of laws,” the statement says.
