DP FACTION WANTS TO REACH AGREEMENT ON ELECTIONS WITH MPP FACTION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ On Tuesday, an irregular meeting of the faction of the Democratic Party (DP) at parliament considered a draft law on local election, and decided to present a statement to the Premier S.Batbold and to the faction of the Mongolian People's Party (MPP).

As the head of the DP faction Ch.Saikhanbileg explained this step the same day, it has become urgent to discuss the draft amendment to the law on local election and to realize that the parliamentary election is approaching.

In the statement, the faction affirmes its position to run the local and parliamentary elections at the same time, adhering to the law on local election which was amended on April 11 of 2008 and came to force in January 1 this year, and wants the MPP faction to reach with them a final decision on the matter under an agreement.

The DP officially suggests that S.Batbold PM and the MPP faction decide to run parliament election and elections to Citizens' Representative Khural of aimags and of the city the same day and election of soums and the city districts authorities on another day, in a way of altering the local election law. The DP faction asks the PM to give a response to the proposals within April 20, 2012.
