Asian University Women's Volleyball Championship opens in Mongolia

ULAN BATOR, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The second Asian University Women's Volleyball Championship Monday opened Monday night at the National Opera and Ballet theater in Ulan Bator, with teams from Kyrghyzstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Mongolia and Hong Kong of China taking part.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the championship, Member of Mongolian parliament and honorary president of Mongolian Volleyball Federation S.Lambaa hoped all teams can perform well and further improve the competitive level of university volleyball in Asia.

The championship, organized by Asian University Sports Federation, will be played in a round-robin format and conclude on April 15.

The first Asian University Women's Volleyball Championship was held in Bankok, Thailand in 2009.
